When I was a kid, I had seen a lot of Winne-the-Pooh cartoons. At that time, I have no idea that cute bear was based on the classic children’s literature. It really amazes me since I think this story is not so meaningful that could not be based on a literature. Therefore, I borrow Winnie-the-Pooh and the Honey Tree this picture book, I want to find out why this story can be classic.
At first, I was attracted by its picture. Its picture are so simple, but cute. I think it is some kind of impressionism, I guess. By the way, there some different image design between cartoon and this book, likes Winnie does not wear anything, and one of the main character, Christopher Robin is way different from cartoon, it looks like little girl in this book. However, this picture would bother me reading at all; on the contrary, it gives me some pleasure to read this book, it makes it interesting.
Then I want to talk about its plot, it is about Winne wanted to eat some honey on the tree, but honey was protected by numerous bee, so he asked for help to Christopher Robin. Winnie tried to use the balloon to float up next to hive, but ended up failure, and got some hurt. At the first chapter of this story, I feel great, because it is cozy and cute. It talked about Winnie’s lifestyle; it makes me to know more about this lovely character. At the second and third chapter are just to narrate Winnie and Christopher Robin trying to get the honey. Those two chapter remained childlike style. At the final chapter, it mainly show us the ending, Winnie failed, and got some hurt. Although it was not quite a terribly hurt, his consequence I think it is some kind of moral lesson of this story. Winnie tried very hard to get the honey, but he failed. It may sound pitiful; but in my opinion, it was just a robbery, Winne is a robber, so he would not be success. That is the moral lesson of this story.
I am surprised this adorable book hint Winnie is a robbery! It is hard to believe that but it is true when you reflect all story. Now I understand why Winnie-the-Pooh is world-wide classical. It is not just only the characters are cute, it got so much we have to learn.
